Montane Mens Duality Jacket RRP £280
About this deal
Montane are committed to reducing their environmental impact and to being transparent with consumers as this journey continues. All three are excellent jackets for general use and can barely be faulted for winter hillwalking, but each has its little niggles when climbing. In deepest winter the Montane Extreme comes out but that coat is very warm and too warm unless it’s well below zero. Montane's Men's Duality Lite Jacket stands as the ultimate solution for individuals seeking a perfect blend of warmth and weather protection in a single package, designed to meet the demands of mountain walking and mountaineering. Personally I'd probably not consider a climbing layer with more than 60g of insulation (I've climbed in my Patagucci Nano Puff a few times and it's been great) and I'd take a 100g jacket as being in light to moderate belay jacket territory so low pockets and huge internal pockets make sense to me.
Combining trusted Gore-Tex waterproof fabric alongside high performance Primaloft Silver insulation, this shell jacket offers a versatile solution when active in the mountains during changeable weather conditions. Classic Mountain Fit: Designed for mountain walking, mountaineering and more general use, these garments have a versatile, relaxed fit. Filling: The Flux is the only jacket of the three to use Primaloft Eco (min 50% recycled content); I can't say I notice a difference in use. The fit is hard to fault for hillwalking use, while for climbing it's not quite as helmet-friendly as the Rab's but better than the Montane's. This is a really great jacket that works from autumn right through to spring, and I have no regrets in having bought it, so much so that I bought the matching Duality gloves (which are also brilliant).Zip: The YKK weather resistant 2-way main zip with anti-snag draft-excluding internal baffle seems less heavy-duty than those on the other two jackets, and this sort of detail may help account for the Generator Alpine's lighter weight. It's not a major problem, but when worn over several layers I find them slightly close-fitting when bending the elbow. Pockets: The two hand pockets are quite low on the body, so almost totally obscured by harness or rucksack hip belt. Lower impact materials have a reduced environmental footprint and increased traceability via third party accreditations.
This product as a whole or the individual materials within this product have the following certification(s). Incredibly packable and lightweight, the Spirit waterproof jacket is developed with GORE-TEX PACLITE® technology and provides durable waterproof and windproof protection, while keeping weight to a minimum. To further seal out the elements the jacket features an adjustable hem with a drawcord and velcro adjustable cuffs.Inner Fabric: The inner fabric of the Duality is a PEAQ synthetic ECO lining that is supremely comfortable next to skin and is highly breathable. It is lightly quilted by put you can’t see it and it’s waterproof and would meet your hour criteria easily I reckon. Not sure about the pile lining, does that make it bulky and is it going to pull up my sweatshirt sleeves every time I put it on. The ultimate comfort factor of this jacket though is the PEAQ Synthetic Eco Lining, which is very comfortable against the skin and very breathable. This does not apply to any perishable goods, unsealed software or item personalised or made to your specification.
