About this deal
Full of thrills, spills, mishaps and magical adventures, each tale features a clumsy former wizard who in his current role as a school music teacher is a continual source of entertainment for his class! Comment: The spine or cover may be slightly worn but the book is otherwise in good condition and will provide thought provoking read!
These are lovely classic, harmless stories that are playful and fun for kids to read and don't use complex language, so they're very easy reads. The focus on this particular story centres on the main character of Mr Majeika, a teacher at St Barty's Primary School. This is particularly because of its ‘superhero’ feel like nature and magical element that children feel that they can relate to and would definitely recommend it. Their fun is despised, but usually prompted, by the horribly spoilt Hamish, a pupil so ghastly that his mere presence caused the resignation of the previous class teacher and frightened off the 79 applicants for the post.
Mr Majeika is the first book in a series of books that revolves around an extraordinary teacher with magical powers. All of our books are 100% brand new, unread and purchased directly from the publishers in bulk allowing us to pass the huge savings on to you! Within the first book Mr Majeika begins his new job as a class three teacher but his entrance is far from what you would expect of a teacher. Majeika enters into his magic with reluctance, however, because he is trying hard to behave himself on Earth, and because the Worshipful Wizard of Walpurgis is keeping an eye on him from above. My 5-year-old loved listening to this, he's not old enough for Harry Potter, but this should lead nicely into The Worst Witch and eventually to Rowling's books.
Class Three is astonished when their new teacher, Mr Majeika flies in through the window on a magic carpet. Mr Majeika however is no ordinary teacher who is constantly entering unusual and exciting adventures. He arrives through the classroom window on a magic carpet which the children at the time are in disbelief of. At some point in our childhoods, many of us would have wished that we could do magic so that we could fly or make things disappear and reappear again. Class 2 enjoyed this amusing story of a teacher with magic powers and the come-uppance of an unpleasant class mate; so it was a popular book.As a rule, magic carpets don't turn up in schools, but this is exactly what happens when Class Threes new teacher flies in through the classroom window and lands on the floor with a bump.
When he and his class three find themselves stranded in a mysterious and creepy hotel it unfolds a series of incredible events. Both of these characters are also in the books, but Melanie is a much less important and very different type of character in the books, and is replaced by another character as female lead, Jody. Mr Majeika can behave just like any ordinary teacher if he wants to, but something has to be done about Hamish Bigmore, the class nuisance, and so he uses a little magic to turn him into a frog.
With Mr Majeika in charge, suddenly life at school become much more exciting – there's even a magic-carpet ride to Buckingham Palace! Mr Majeika is the title of a series of children's books, written by Humphrey Carpenter and published between 1984 and 2006.
