About this deal

Amazingly, I can just about do it with the Maybelline Dream Urban Cover* and it doesn’t look ridiculous, but still; I think that the general sensible rule with makeup SPF is that you’re never quite getting what’s on the bottle or tube, especially with UVA protection. But here’s where things get slightly tricky, because for something to have its stated SPF you need to apply it in the recommended amounts and the amount you need for your face is loads.

Dream Urban Cover All-in-One Protective Makeup Makeup meets skincare with the New all-in-one protective makeup: Maybelline’s first full coverage foundation with a lightweight, barely there feel combined with SPF 50 broad spectrum physical sunscreen.Half a teaspoon, which doesn’t sound like enough to drown an ant in but is, in fact, quite a dollop. Now you could say these things about quite a few foundations – Lancome’s Teint Idole comes to immediate mind – so what’s different about Maybelline Dream Urban Cover? And I’d imagine that in those amounts you’re getting the sort of sun protection that would be fine for incidental, moderate exposure – working inside all day but perhaps popping out for lunch or walking to the tube in the morning and evening. I'm six weeks into my Invisalign treatment (read this if you need to catch up on why I'm doing it) and despite the experience being relatively drama-free, so far, I've realised this week that never in my entire life have I felt such a permanent sense of. Super Stay Multi-Use Foundation Stick provides flawless, full coverage with a cream-to-matte longwear finish and a precision pointed blender sponge for easy and quick application at home or out on the town.

In fairness, I tested with normal (dedicated, single-purpose) sunscreen too and applying the same amount felt less nice than applying the amount you’d naturally, instinctively apply, so it’s by no means a criticism. If you were applying normal foundation and not worrying about having to use enough of it, you’d probably just dispense a little 5p size at a time and work from the back of your hand, and you’d find after a few dollops that your face would be done. I took a little makeup bag with me on an overnight trip a couple of months ago and then when I got home again from my travels I forgot to unpack it. It is fantastic on it’s own– doesn’t add colour to your face but is blurring and perfecting, skin looks perfect. As part of my ongoing attempt to smarten myself up and streamline my wardrobe I have been trying out new fashion trends.I say trends, they're really just things that many people have been wearing for ages yet I still find hilariously novel: cropped wide-leg trousers. Makeup meets skincare with the NEW all-in-one protective foundation: Maybelline's first medium to full coverage foundation with a lightweight, barely there feel combined with SPF 50 broad spectrum physical sunscreen. Makeup meets skincare with the NEW Dream Urban Cover all-in-one protective foundation: Maybelline's first full coverage foundation with a lightweight, barely there feel combined with SPF 50 broad spectrum physical sunscreen. It’s a beautiful base, but you’d be hard pressed (excuse the pun) to put enough on to get to half a teaspoon – you’d get repetitive strain injury! The foundation provides flawless coverage with minimal makeup feel, allowing skin to breathe all day long.
