About this deal

I love me some magical realism and it's always awesome to see YA that isn't set in the United States. idk how it gets better than this 😍 you take my hand and drag me headfirst, fearless (stop i rlly thought i did something there). The plot itself was also exciting; I truly could not put this book down and finished it in one sitting. we both love academic validation (except i’ll never be able to top my classes) it was really easy to sympathise and understand why alice always felt unseen and ‘invisible’ to those around her, she only really had the ability to top her classes—well, until she got her invisibility power which was was so fun to read about! Some parts in this were also really unexpectedly action packed, like I was just chugging along and then BAM stuff was happening left and right.

alice sun + henry li my babiess 💌💌 them being accomplices to a literal crime but it's ok because they're top students is so 😭 but it's ok i love them and i stand by everything that they did. The way he was literally blushing whenever Alice looked at him and how he always wanted her attention was to die for! she looks how he believes art should look like, the kind of beautiful that makes you feel something, that presses your heart too tight against your ribcage.Alice is the only scholarship student in this elite boarding school, and even then, her scholarship doesn’t cover the entire cost. i thought this was just a cute romance, which it was not 😭 that's my own fault, though, because the synopsis pretty accurately sums up the book. Like this book gave of kind of Disney and Pixar vibes with the way it was written and how the characters acted and I loved every second of it! let me preface this by saying that while i did enjoy this, it also suffered the unfortunate fate of being my first read after kingdom of ash. The author did a good job of showing the escalation of the tasks students hired Alice to do, from rather sordid but standard spy jobs that gradually intensify towards outright criminal acts.

Kidnapping, Injury, Classism, Mentions of Child Pornography, Cheating, Crimes, Panic Attacks, Stalking, Infidelity, Racism, Swearing, Abuse, Bullying, etc.I can’t recommend If You Could See the Sun enough, especially if you’re in the market for a book centered on family sacrifice and dreams with a rivals-to-lovers romance! Since its announcement, this book and its premise caught my eye, but I was even more excited for it when the cover was revealed! This book is literally the definition of this trope and I’m so freaking in love with it, you guys have NO IDEA! In this genre-bending YA debut, a Chinese American girl monetizes her strange new invisibility powers by discovering and selling her wealthy classmates’ most scandalous secrets. like this was all put into motion so last minute and everyone was just like “oh okay it’s all andrew’s fault then.
