About this deal

Así es como nos cuentan historias de asesinatos relacionados con estos temas, el cómo ambos pueden corromper incluso a aquellos que menos lo pensaríamos. After all, you had just said you wanted to die, and had even given me a credible reason for saying it. From Black Night: "For several years Greco had been the highest paid driver in Europe, and we live in an age in which it is generally accepted that the market is always right. The police in particular struggle with the desire for redemption versus adhering to paths that are strictly legal. A tasty, if not always tasteful, tale of supernatural mayhem that fans of King and Crichton alike will enjoy.

Dark tales of vengeance, justice, and love gone wrong in societies where everyone would do anything to survive.I suspect many readers will be surprised if they pick this book up judging Nesbo purely by his Hole books and are expecting "straight" thriller writing. Nesbø has an international reputation and I could not comprehend readers would popularize an author who committed egregious plot contrivances. We are introduced to two best friends on their way to the running of the bulls in Pamplona when they fall in love with the same girl and, in the epic and vicious finale, we meet a psychologist who also happens to be an assassin. You can grab one, throw it in the microwave for a few seconds (or not), and wolf it down—keeping your blood sugar up and the hangries at bay—in a couple minutes, flat.

Jo Nesbø is one of my favourite authors and the quality of his writing is apparent in many of these but not all in my opinion. Again, I enjoyed the first two, The Bat and Cockroaches (if somewhat put off by the titles), but found the the third, The Redbreast, hard to follow. Lines which stretched the entire width of the continental United States, and intermediate flight lengths, and shorter flight lengths? Regardless they were full of clever twists and unlikable characters that really made you ask yourself some questions. I am finding that the more people talk about the idiosyncrasies of Harry Hole, the more I want to read about him!I’m listening to FALLEN in my car right now and I’m tempted to go sit in it and drive around aimlessly, even in the 103 degree heat. This book sounds intriguing although not very unique but in Nesbo’s hands I expect the story is well-done.

I would like to thank both Net Galley and Knopf for supplying a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Secondly, every one of them is dense and complex, in characterisation, theme and development so, for me, it was just impossible to race through them quickly. There were a few stories that were very good and I would have liked them to have made decent novels but generally this book dragged.

First of all he loses fifteen-million pounds of the bank-he-works-for's money, which signals the end of their relationship, and then his drug-driven spiral continues when he makes a ridiculous World Cup bet. But the stories are generally emotionally resonant and provide an insight into the characters’ motivation and decisions. Patchy stories, sometimes poor narration and a general feeling of dissatisfaction combine to produce a disappointing experience. A glamorous birthday dinner in the Hollywood Hills ends with the famous host dead and every guest under suspicion in this dark, cinematic suspense debut reminiscent of an Agatha Christie page-turner crossed with David Lynch's Mulholland Drive. In San Sebastián, an ardent proponent of the multiverse is suspected of killing one of his "other" selves. The first entitled "London" is outstanding and one of my favourite stories as I love the clever twist at the end which makes me smile wryly.
