About this deal

The movie was the top box office foreign-language film of the year in USA, won the Lumiere (French Golden Globe) for best picture and was nominated for nine Cesars (French Oscar) and won four, including best actor, best director and best music. Harlan was also showrunner and executive producer for two French TV mini-series, UNE CHANCE DE TROP (NO SECOND CHANCE) with Alexandra Lamy and JUST UN REGARD (JUST ONE LOOK) with Virginie Ledoyen. While the book does a good job of giving us insight into their relationship through character reflection and flashbacks, We don’t see a lot of scenes where Jack and Grace are just doing things together before the start of the novel. But the hints of other crimes Tempe’s identification uncovers, particularly crimes against children, spur her on to redouble her efforts despite the new M. Like… this book less retreads literally every scrap of ground that every other Harlan Coben novel has done.

Just as we got to a critical point for one character we would be carried away to find out what was happening to another one. And, upon viewing the photo, so has Jack, leaving Grace to ask that old reliable story-starting question: “Just who is this man I thought I knew? Throughout the course of the book you'll be introduced to a range of characters, none of which you will be entirely certain about and your opinion will undoubtedly change time and time again. Perhaps because I enjoy his books so much, I’ve often been a little disappointed with the audio-visual representations of his work. He was won the El Premio del Novela Negra RBA in Spain, the Grand Prix de Lectrices in France, and the CWA/ITV3 Bestseller Dagger for favorite crime novelist in England.this had potential despite discrepancies and many unrealistic details but the end was such a major fail that I have to think seriously about wanting to read Coben ever again.

Quite the sleuth too which is good for her as she is facing an almost impossible task of finding her beloved, and facing many traumatic memories along the way. There are others interested in both her husband's past and that photo, including Eric Wu, a fierce, silent killer who will not be stopped from finding his quarry, no matter who or what stands in his way. His previous books, including the "Myron Bolitar" series, have always had the heart-stopping plots, but there’s always been something just a tiny bit off about them. For another, the job she turns out to have been hired for—leading an investigation her new boss doesn’t feel he can entrust to his own force—makes her queasy. All of the connections with the characters and then the twist at the very end made me feel like I was right there with the family.
