About this deal

The crescendo of hype leading up to the release of The Force Awakens ( a wave we here at Strange Assembly have taken part in) has included Star Wars branded versions of pretty much every product imaginable. Miss and he’ll hit a token and you’ll lose it, lose all 3 tokens and you’re out, the last player left in wins. Like the movie, Risk: Star Wars Edition features three distinct, related, and simultaneous conflicts – the Rebel’s efforts to sabotage the shield generator on Endor, the space battle around the second Death Star, and the throne room duel between Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, and the Emperor ( The Queen’s Gambit featured three interlocking battlefields (the epic duel against Darth Maul, the droid/Gungan battle on the plains of Naboo, and Anakin’s efforts in space to destroy the droid control ship). Data sheet Minimum number of players 2 Maximum number of players 3 Age 4+ Playing time 0-15 minutes Language German Language dependent No text Designer (Uncredited) How many players? It remains one of my favorite pimped games as everything came together and worked perfectly all the while requiring some different techniques.

When the Millennium Falcon comes near a player's Stormtrooper tokens, that player uses their paddle to make a quick flip to get Chewbacca out of the way. After I painted everything and sealed it, I started pulling original Star Wars movie images off the ‘net and incorporated them into the pieces to complete the theme. Reviews are great , and this looks like loads of fun for Star Wars fans and it should keep the kids happy for ages! In this Loopin' Chewie game players try to protect their Stormtroopers from Chewbacca as he rides in the Millennium Falcon. The storm trooper tokens are a little precarious in their slots and if you have a young child who bashes on the flipper it can be enough to jostle a token and have it fall below, which is a bit upsetting for the child and 3)This does not fit back into its original box without being dismantled so you have to choose between storing the awkwardly shaped game somewhere or you have to unassemble and reassemble each time you want to play.

I really enjoy simple dexterity games like this, they're fun and require some good reflexes and the process of "figuring out the game" is great for younger kids. But what you can do is hit it too hard, it goes up in the air spins on the spot and lands directly on your own Stormtroopers! This 2014 Loopin’ Chewie board game has all sealed components, but the box shows minor marks from storage. But if you can flip him out of the way with your paddle, he'll go after someone else's Stormtrooper! I knew the X-wing mini would be too fragile and alternate minis wouldn’t be any better so my friend suggested using the Millennium Falcon.Loopin' Chewie is out and about and he's going to come after the Stormtroopers with his piloting skills! A purely dexterity game, the main draw of Loopin’ Chewie is that the motor at the center of the game will flies Chewbacca and the Millennium Falcon around.

In the throne room, Luke tries to kill or redeem Vader, while the Emperor zaps Luke every now and then. On Endor, the Rebels must race to destroy the shield generator, while the Empire deploys Stormtrooper reinforcements to make this task more difficult. It’s great fun for adults and children alike, so much that it was one of our games we got out for Christmas Day last year! Some of them are new games, some of them are re-skins of existing games, and some of them are pretty obviously terrible – but some of them are pretty good! Players control the levers of their respective barracks, in time to Chewbacca and the Millennium Falcon doing flying loops overhead, trying to stop it from knocking a Stormtrooper token off the barracks and into the channel. So one of the main points of this blog is to not only talk about techniques to pimp your game and talk about what is going on in the industry but also show off my completed projects. I was planning on getting my daughter Looping Louie for Christmas, but I now see there is a Star Wars version. Other than the attraction of the Star Wars license, Loopin’ Chewie is, while great for kids in its own right, pretty much inferior to the original, which permitted four players (instead of three), features a Louie figure that’s better done than Chewie, and with retails for less than the Star Wars version. Players watch him flying around in circles, flipping, and diving, while trying to make the Stormtroopers fall. I picked up a copy and the new version is fun but I can’t help being partial to my version, of course.

Tabletop gaming has (thankfully) not been immune to this phenomenon, with a variety of specialty and mass market Star Wars games released in 2015, with more scheduled for 2016. My five-year-old has loved it, and while the two-year-old doesn’t understand what’s going on and can’t really play, they still have a lot of fun watching Chewie fly around and mashing the lever. Risk: Star Wars Edition, however, is not a re-skin of that game, but more of an “inspired by” (each game has three designers; Craig Van Ness worked on both). The game is, ultimately, won or lost in the space battle – the Empire wins if it wipes out the Rebel fleet, while the Rebels win if they destroy the Death Star.
