About this deal

I couldn’t take screenshots or video capture anymore as when you’re using one Joy-Con for singleplayer, the other one becomes inactive straight away. These are usually highlighted in a green glow, and you must avoid shooting them otherwise you’ll lose one of your 3 Sheriff badges which represent your health in Mad Bullets.

I really do miss those as you can’t really replicate this type of game on a widescreen TV accurately, but the joy-con is your next best bet, and it works quite well. There’s no point spending time on the controls as we’ve already covered them, so let’s look at the graphics. Not only that but each level has secondary objectives to complete such as shooting 8 incoming bullets, shooting 15 crates or boxes or shooting a certain number of enemies.

Mad Bullets is a typical title I had never heard of, and it was only through my own ventures, that I found this title and have to say that this is one of those gems that you need to look into. The positives I can give is the the game looks and sounds great, there is some good variety in the levels, and assuming you are not playing a Switch Lite, you have two joycons which allows you to play two player without the need for extra accessories. which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 311908) for consumer credit and general insurance and a member of the Finance and Leasing Association.

It’s in a first-person perspective, similar to games like Lethal Enforcers where it’s like you’re on a conveyor belt, only without the duck and cover mechanic. However, I didn’t want both reticules on screen at the same time, unless I was playing with friends. You can literally plug a mouse into the switch and use it, and it has a touch screen, however the controls are solely restricted to motion controls only with Joycon on the Switch version. Remember, even if the Joy-Cons reticule’s start to wander or aren’t centred, all you need to do is press the B button to re-centre it or go to pause menu and re-calibrate it there. My niggle with this was incoming projectiles on the far left or right of the screen as when reloading, the reticle would go back to the centre, and you’d eventually take a bullet to the face.

They are purely optional as you can progress regardless, but it adds a level of competitiveness with a chum. These have a red glow surrounding them and enemies that are wanted criminals are usually highlighted in a light blue hue.I must admit, a handful of times I purposely shot the odd bartender who just so happened to step out into the middle of a gunfight. There isn’t any retro pixel art, 3D models or cel shading, just static images, or cut-outs if you like, of various rogues and innocent bystanders that you aren’t supposed to shoot. This is actually handy if you need to recenter your aim and get a full clip at the same time but the problem is the reverse, every time you need to reload, it re centers your reticle to the centre of the screen. A red line confirming who the villains are and that you need to shoot them, blue for wanted criminals and green for the people you aren’t supposed to hit. We aren’t spoilt for choice with this type of game on the Switch, let alone other platforms, but regardless, this is a title definitely worth playing, and I think it takes the mantle of light gun games for me until Sega Ages attempt a H ouse of the Dead 2 port.

The graphics are bright and colourful and look great on the Switches’ screen, plus the frame-rate is pretty solid. These add little replayability to the game but are not necessarily to move on to the next level as long as you survive and kill the wanted Outlaw, you’ll move on to the next level. The iOS version controls with touch screen and the PC version controls with a mouse… BOTH OF THESE COULD HAVE BEEN IMPLEMENTED WITH THE SWITCH’S FUNCTIONALITY!
