About this deal

The value of some potion reagents has fluctuated in this war-torn economy, so you may see some changes to the gold coin value of some of our potions. After the initial assault, the Heroes were able to injure the Elven Archer and Elven Warrior, and defeat the Dread Warrior. The monsters countered by dealing heavy blows to the Knight and finally having a successful Channel Dread spell against the Barbarian, dealing 2 Body Points of damage to her. End of the second round of combat.

I know the community has been really excited and hyped up about Rise of the Dread Moon, and although we are thrilled to have more details about the expansion, I can’t help but feel bad about the way it’s happened.

This tactic of hitting and running went on for 5 more rounds. Ultimately, the Barbarian died on round 10, the Guardian Knight died on round 12, and the Elf finally fell on round 13. I’ve spent the last day and a half going through the notes, here’s my review, so far, of Rise of the Dread Moon. The game's core mechanics revolve around a modular game board and meticulously designed miniatures, bringing the world of HeroQuest: Rise of the Dead Moon to life. Players will move their heroes across the board, exploring new areas, solving puzzles, and engaging in tactical combat against the forces of darkness. Also an ethereal monster, and one that isn’t what we thought. Common belief was that the Dread Wraith would show up as a boss character, it looks more likely to just be a really powerful entity in Zargon’s ranks.

Who could this new hero be? The speculation has begun. The consensus that I think most have agreed on so far, is that this is an alternate version of the Guardian Knight that was previously released in limited quantity. HeroQuest: Rise of the Dead Moon is an immersive and thrilling fantasy board game that takes players on an epic journey through a world filled with dark magic, sinister creatures, and ancient mysteries. Developed as a modern adaptation of the classic HeroQuest board game, Rise of the Dead Moon promises to captivate both nostalgic fans and newcomers alike with its engaging gameplay and rich storytelling. Or you can continue the quest keeping as much distance as possible again forcing the wraith to move & take an action rather than the other way round. I think having monsters with special abilities, such as spells, is a natural progression for HeroQuest. There are only so many variations of the monster stats. I think the fear would be that people wouldn’t like two different monsters with the same stats.

Rise of the Dread Moon adds new gameplay elements to the base HeroQuest set. This includes 29 miniatures, such as the Magus Guard shown here.

I’ll need to try it out a few more times and with different configurations of enemies.HeroQuest was a smash hit for tabletop gaming, as well as becoming a gateway to tabletop roleplaying games like Dungeons & Dragons for millions of players. The game also influenced later tabletop board games that came after, including Games Workshop’s own Warhammer Quest, board games based on D&D, and recent games such as Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. Next up is the Guardian Knight, also rolling a 7, he will engage the Dread Warrior as well. The Guardian Knight manages to land just one blow on the Dread Warrior. Edit: Encarmine confirmed that Elvyler guessed the TRUE title based on the missing word in that Avalon Hill Investors meeting screenshot. Rise of the Dread Moon (not Knights at all!). Great!! First off, in this post we finally get an official size for the Barbarian. He’s 6’7″, that’s huge! No wonder he plows through goblins like they’re not even there! No longer able to see the Heroes, the Wraith further retreats, biding it’s time, waiting for the Heroes to come to it.

Overall, This is a very difficult monster to beat, and it gives Zargon a lot of power to troll the Heroes by hitting, then escaping just out of reach. I’ll be honest, that encounter was a bit exhausting.

One thing I find particularly interesting about the Mercenaries is the fact that the Cadre of the Raven’s Veil isn’t mentioned in the rules portion of the Quest Book, nor is it a part of the story at the beginning, during Mentor’s message. Hopefully the Cadre becomes a bigger part of the story during the quests. Alchemy & Potions For the Dread Wraith, I’ve got an Air Elemental. The actual mini appears to take up 2 spaces, I’ll try to emulate this as best as possible, my Air Elemental takes up 4 spaces, similar to The Frozen Horror. The Dread Cultist will be subbed in for my Crimson Courtiers from Altar Quest. For the Assassin, I’ll be using the Cutpurse, also from Altar Quest. Playtest #1: Dread Wraith, Cultist, & Specters The Commander of the Guardian Knights– This makes sense because he’s featured on the front of the box Thanks HispaZargon for the edit!
