Walking down the stairs to his car, he had an intuition that the day was going to be interesting. He didn’t know why as everything was as usual so far, but he couldn’t entirely dispel the feeling. Maybe someone brought donuts? It's almost as if Jake was meant to live in the System rather than earth. It gives a very interesting dynamic where the MC isn't exactly an antihero, but he's absolutely not a typical good guy.
He now considers himself a hermit as she writes about a character that progressively advances through the levels fighting with a bow. Advanced Archery (Common)] ——> [Expert Archery (Uncommon)] – An Archer’s best friend is the bow in his hand and the arrow in his foe’s heart. You have proven yourself an expert with your chosen weapon and are fast approaching the level of mastering your craft. Adds a small bonus to the effect of Agility and Strength when using a ranged weapon. Style 4.5/5: The only reason this isn't full marks is that I could see the author improving with every chapter and developing how they write and I can't yet see the author's solidified style and there are few phrases that I personally find are used too often (main culprit "tens of _". A good way of conveying relative scale, but not great at absolute size). I love when a author really strives to do their best and improve with a story and I feel that is exactly what has happened here. After the conclusion of the event, things progressed smoothly and everyone prepared for the Treasure Hunt. Level 25: [Big Game Hunter (Rare)] – A true hunter seeks not the easy prey but a true challenge. Having hunted bigger and stronger prey than most, the Ambitious Hunter has become more accustomed to facing higher-level enemies. Increases the user’s resistance to auras and gives a small increase to Strength and Agility while facing enemies above your highest class or race level. The bonus is based on the disparity between the level of your prey and you. Limit of 1.25x your level or 50 levels, whichever is highest. May your hunt be fruitful, and your ambitions reached.
For style then it is rather simple, with perhaps a bit too many Pov chapters. I like most of them, but not all. I do think they make the story overall better though. During World Congress, Jake had found that his former boss Jacob is leader of the Holy Church faction, his friend Casper is part of the undead and his brother Caleb is leader of the Court of Shadows faction.
What can I say I really liked this story. The system is very familiar but got its own twist to make it interesting, but it won't redefine the genre or anything. Fangs of Man (Epic)] ——> [Fangs of Man (Ancient)] – Inspired by an old legend, you walk a path of one yourself. Humanity’s natural weapons have never been their teeth, claws, or anything else innate to them, but instead the tools they wield and their ability to adapt anything into an instrument of destruction. Allows the hunter to more effectively use anything deemed compatible as a melee weapon. Makes the hunter more familiar with any weapon wielded. As your comprehension of natural weapons grows, it allows you to truly make any weapon a part of yourself as you forcefully temporarily integrate it into your Soulshape as if an innate weapon, vastly increasing its durability if otherwise fragile. All effects related to weapon integration are more effective and easier to accomplish with Soulbound weapons. Adds a bonus to the effectiveness of Strength and Agility no matter what melee weapon you wield. Durability increase of weapons based on Willpower. Before he became a bestselling author, he was deep in the corporate world with actual pants and redress shirts doing the daily grind.Jake Thayne is the main protagonist of the fiction. With the Earth being integrated with the System. He started with the advantages of having the bloodline of The Primal Hunter and being fairly good at archery. Jake seems like your usual office worker that now has to attend a tutorial full of opportunities and dangers. He should be concerned and fearful of his new reality but as his fellow coworkers break down at every hurdle he thrives. Level 100: [Arcane Hunter’s Arrows (Epic)] - A mage and a hunter both, you combine your talents as you conjure your tools of destruction. Allows the Avaricious Arcane Hunter to conjure arrows made of highly condensed arcane mana, focusing on either destruction or stability. A stable arrow will be sharp and durable, while a destructive arrow will explode upon impact. Conjuring arrows consume mana, and the conjuration is instant. Adds a bonus to the effectiveness of Intelligence and Wisdom when using destructive Arcane Hunter’s Arrows. Adds a bonus to the effectiveness of Wisdom and Perception when using stable Arcane Hunter’s Arrows.
The story is also good, though it has its ups and downs. The main character isn't super involved, but more off doing his own thing. I do really like it though, and I look forward to where it goes. There is also hints and a lot of nice world building.
The office slowly got filled up as more and more made their way off the elevator. After the initial morning greetings and polite social exchanges, the noise slowly died down as everyone got busy with their respective tasks. No donuts, he noted internally with great disappointment.
